BSQ's CD Look For The Silver Lining has been nominated for a WAMMIE as Jazz Album Of The Year by the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA). Here's a stream from a cut, A.C. Jobim's O Grande Amor.
BSQ brings fresh approaches to the standard jazz quartet. Our new CD Look For The Silver Lining reflects our motto: Nothing Ordinary.
Our first CD ’Tain’t What’cha Do presented our originals, standards that aren’t played or heard enough, and archive material that had never been heard at all. In Look For The Silver Lining we add our vocalist Nina Schwartz, guest guitarist Howard Leikin, and percussion maestro Tony Martucci to feature sambas, more from the archive of the great songwriter Harry Warren, and music associated with tenor sax master Al Cohn.
BSQ is a working band, playing at events, restaurants, and jazz clubs throughout the Washington – Baltimore – Annapolis area and in Las Vegas. Our book ranges from Jerome Kern and Harold Arlen to John Coltrane and Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Bob started as a flute player, so often plays flute or (rare in jazz quartets) alto flute. BSQ CDs, downloads, and streams are available at CD Baby, Amazon MP3, iTunes, and several streaming services. For current bookings, please follow (“like”) us on our Facebook page.
